Port Isaac Tiles - Faye Hawkins

Welcome to the homepage of Port Isaac Tiles, Cornwall, UK.
Proprietor Faye Hawkins gained a BA in Textile design at Nottingham Trent University. During her final year she specialised in printed textiles as her work tended toward bold colour and surface pattern. Since completing her degree, Faye's work has made a natural transition from fabrics to ceramic tiles.
Faye's tiles are all hand glazed and painted at Port Isaac Pottery. Each tile is fired twice. After an initial glaze firing (when the main colour design is painted ie. a shell, mackerel, starfish etc), she applies 24 carat gold lustre to highlight her designs. The tiles are then fired for a final design.
Living in Cornwall has had a strong influence over Faye's designs and much of her inspiration comes from the indigenous marine life. The North Cornwall coastline and scenery are also featured in many of her designs.

Faye welcomes commission work. Previous commissions have included the 'Dolphin' bathroom at 'First and Last' which was featured in the May edition of Cornwall Today. Faye's tiles can be used to create a unique interior feature in both kitchens and bathrooms. They are also suitable for outdoor purposes, for example as a mural or focal point on a garden or patio wall.
Faye is also currently studying ceramics at Port Isaac Pottery and has recently launched her own range of hand painted Earthenware.
