Pottery & Stoneware Gallery
Pottery & Stoneware Gallery Billy hand throws the pottery on a wheel. They are then biscuit-fired in an electric kiln before being glazed and decorated using various techniques. The 2nd firing is in a gas-fired kiln up to 1280c, taking 12 hours to fire and a further 36 hours to cool down. The final process is the application of pure gold lustre which is melted onto the surface of the pot in a 3rd and final firing.
All in all, the process can take up to 6 weeks to complete. Each pot is a unique ‘one-off’ piece.
